The World Cup Update You’ve All Been Waiting For!
With the 2026 FIFA World Cup well under way, and the largest-ever group stage now complete, it’s time to update you on the Envio office World Cup sweepstake draw.
As a reminder, at stake is a bottle of champagne and a gift voucher for the lucky team member whose nation goes furthest in the tournament.
Four of the ten Latin American teams have now been eliminated, with six still flying the flag in the next round.
The eliminated teams and their respective owners are:
Will O’Shea – Operations
Team: Haiti 🇭🇹
After three defeats, Haiti were eliminated from Group 4, along with Scotland. However, due to the need for a one-team redraw, Will has been handed a major lifeline and is now overseeing Brazil. Not a bad consolation prize — going from Haiti to Brazil is less of a redraw and more of a miracle.
Josh Sweeney – Operations Manager
Team: Curaçao 🇨🇼
No such luck for Josh, whose competition has come to an end after spirited World Cup debutants Curaçao managed just one point and finished bottom of Group E. A brave effort, but sadly the champagne dream is now officially on ice.
Max Lashmar – Operations
Team: Panama 🇵🇦
Max was also unable to get a reprieve, watching Panama struggle to three defeats — including against England at the weekend — to finish bottom of Group L. At least he can now enjoy the rest of the tournament without the burden of expectation.
Darren Bond – Operations
Team: Uruguay 🇺🇾
In what was probably the shock of the group stages, eternal dark horses Uruguay failed to get out of Group H after two draws and a narrow defeat to Spain. Darren will no doubt be calling for a stewards’ enquiry.
And the below six are still carrying the flag for Latin America:
Sean Stokes – Managing Director
Team: Paraguay 🇵🇾
Paraguay made it through Group D as one of the best third-placed teams after a defeat, a draw and an impressive 1-0 win against Turkey. They now face Germany in the round of 32. Sean remains in the hunt, although common sense says the champagne may still be some way off chilling.

Scott Easton – Director
Team: Argentina 🇦🇷
Winning all three of their Group J games, Argentina have cemented their position as one of the tournament favourites. Next up: Cape Verde. With Scott drawing one of the big guns, we’re all still trying very hard not to be bitter about it.

Jaqui Rungay – Procedures & Sales Support
Team: Colombia 🇨🇴
Colombia look like real dark horses after topping Group K ahead of Portugal, and were also unlucky not to beat them at the weekend. Their reward is a round of 32 match against Ghana. Jaqui may have quietly landed a decent pick in the draw — although we’re pretending not to care.

Chris Gaduzo – Inside Sales
Team: Ecuador 🇪🇨
Ecuador remain in the draw after negotiating third place in a strong Group E. However, a trip to Mexico City to play the co-hosts in their own backyard looks like a tough ask. Chris is still alive in the sweepstake, but he may need Ecuador to produce something fairly heroic next.

Joanne Humphrey – Accounts
Team: Mexico 🇲🇽
A very impressive Group A campaign for the co-hosts, with three wins out of three. Perhaps not the most competitive of groups, and bigger challenges lie ahead with Ecuador next — plus the potential of a round of 16 tie against England. Joanne’s hopes are very much alive, although she may not be the office favourite if Mexico go on to knock England out.

Will O’Shea – Operations
Team: Brazil 🇧🇷
“Get Out of Jail Free Will”, as we’re now calling him, saw Brazil top Group C with two wins and a draw. With Japan up next, the serial World Cup winners should progress deeper into the tournament. From eliminated to potential sweepstake favourite in one redraw — some people really do land on their feet.
